My First Blog….and I Would Rather Not Talk About Real Estate….

Yes….I would rather talk about college football. I would love to talk to you about my family. I would rather talk about the amazing rains in the southwest (….God is blessing us with rain!). I would rather talk about a big juicy commercial real estate deal in Colorado….huh? Okay…okay…so I guess I would like to talk about real estate. HECK YEAH I WOULD!!

I have had the real estate bug for almost 4 years now…..yes…only 4 years…BUT I am not talking about just any real estate….Yes….I started out in single family homes….but now….I am talking about large shopping centers, office buildings, apartment building…not just a few but a lot. I am talking about real estate cycles, demograhics, trends, analysis, TICs, PPMs….oooooh…..are you feeling it? If you are….you are in the right web space.

My name is Rob Powell….I was once a “corporate road warrior” (This title was given to me by my friends and mentors David Finkel and Peter Conti in their book “Buying Real Estate Without Cash or Credit”…I wrote the foreword) that traveled 90% of the time and lived out of a suitcase. Hilton and American Airlines were (emphasis on ‘were’) my best friends. Wow….did that life stink.

Then….( I am giving you the very short version) I read a book….you guessed it….Rich Dad Poor Dad….by the famous Robert Kiyosaki. This book has changed many lives….including mine.

Then I read the next book that changed my financial life…..Making Big Money Investing In Real Estate Without Tenents, Banks or Rehab Projects by Finkel and Conti…..really this is not plug…okay…maybe it is…..but it is my story and I cannot go on without giving credit (I am not a self made millionaire….a lot a people helped me along the way).

Those two books have put me on a path that I am so greatful for. I took a “leap of faith” jump….and my financial life (my life in general) has never been the same….and this amazing ride is still going.

More books….more seminars….more home study courses…. more DVDs…. more CDs…..and you think it ends….but it never does.

Now, Today…..I speak at seminars, I coach for Mentor Financial Group’s commercial and residential investing programs, and I am a partner in an amazing company…..Grassland Investments, LLC.

There are several stories that fill in the gaps in the above history…..such as:
