Howdy from a hot Cedar Crest, New Mexico…..

I just got back from speaking at the 2nd annual Mentor Financial Commercial Investing Seminar in Denver, CO. Wow….Peter Harris and Peter Conti out did themselves this year. It was a great event. The speakers were great but the attendees were awesome…..just awesome!

I have always said that seminars, conferences, events in general….are great places to build Wealth Lifelines. The speakers and the education are not the primary reasons to attend. The people….the relationship building are the reasons I attend events. The people that go just for the education miss out on the “real” power of these events….connecting with like-minded people all in one place….

Every time I meet someone at an event and they are dissapointed in the speakers, the education or whatever…..I always want to take them by the shoulders and shake them….saying…”It’s the relationships…stupid!” Thankfully….I am getting better at self control.

So….next in the list of real estate success characteristics is….COURAGE.

One of my favorite movies is Brave Heart. As William Wallace (Mel Gibson) gives the memorable speech to his less-than-ideal gang of rebels….

“ye, fight and you may die, run, and you’ll live… at least a while.
And dying in your beds, many years from now, would you be willin’ to
trade ALL the days, from this day to that, for one chance, just one
chance, to come back here and tell our enemies that they may take our
lives, but they’ll never take… OUR FREEDOM!”

Holy smokes…..now ask yourself this….Are you a Fighter or a Weenie?

Apply this quote to your life and ask yourself….are you scared to take a chance….or are you one of the few who risk to live a life worth living? What are you waiting for…..security…nest egg….lottery? It takes guts to be an entrepreneur….it takes blood and guts to live a life worth living…

This quote resonates with me….it is easy to run….and most do….but, WOW….to stand, fight, cry, and bleed….and in the end….be able to look back at your life and say…..”yes….I took a chance.” To look back…as you are lying in your death bed as say…”YES….I gave it everything I had…I left everything on the field.” There is a deep reward in the secret chambers of our heart when we face our fear head on. The reward is the full acceptance that life is meant to be lived….and the absolute rejection of status quo.

Many of you think that I am talking about making money…being wealthy….having success. Well…I believe those are “results of” courage. But what I am talking about has nothing to do with money….It has everything to do with passion. True passion leads to courage. Passion gives purpose.

The problem people face is that they never really take the time to find it (passion)….but….find your true passion…and you will find your purpose….find your true passion and you will build the courage you need to face your fears.

Courage is resistance to fear, mastery of fear – not absence of fear.
- Mark Twain

As a coach….I see a lot of students fired up about real estate investing in the beginning…but as time goes by….and the investing is not as easy as they thought it would be….they give into fear….lose heart. They cannot find the courage to face their fears….then quit.

Yes…sometimes we fail….but when we succeed…oh how sweet it is. When we fail, courage asks the question “why did we fail?” Courage…puts us back on the horse for another try.

There is nothing easy about being an entrepreneur….but there is nothing easy looking back on your life and telling yourself….”I could have been a contender.”

Until next time…..rob
