The Tomato liked us? Really? Are you sure?
After becoming a fan of The Real Estate Tomato through the Active Rain blog, imagine how excited I was to see little ole’ us (formally known as www.WealthLifelines.com) mentioned as one of their Top Ten Commercial Real Estate blogs!
The focus of the Tomato’s article is the contention that there are very few viable commercial real estate blogs in the industry, and I think they are right.
When I worked with Marcus & Millichap, the agents there were very much entrenched in the 37-year-old business model which is based on cold calling. I guess it still works, although it’s certainly no fun for the clients or the agents. No one that I know of in the Seattle office is blogging. I tried to, but with the level of calling they expect you to do, there was very little time available for those slower-to-bear-fruit endeavors, and my blogging suffered for it.
Now that the members of Grassland Investments, LLC have come together to create a blog – we hope that there will be a lot more usable information out there for new and experienced commercial real estate investors, alike.
- We serve a national audience. Our focus is not, like many local real estate agent blogs, just one specific marketplace or region.
- We speak your language. We are not trying to over-awe you with jargon and statistics. You won’t hear us talking about “bips” or “yield spreads,” at least not in those terms. We are speaking to the commercial investor who may be new to the industry or who may have another job outside of real estate. Our target audience isn’t corporate pension funds.
- We specialize in the unvarnished truth. Although we have put on some great seminars and enjoyed our wonderful coaching students, we’re not full-time info-marketers. Our goal is to tell it how it is. Integrity and transparency are the watch-words. We’re not going to tell you it’s easy, just so we can sell you a ticket to our next event.
- It’s a relationship business. We encourage reader feedback and questions. As you can see, we actively answer reader questions here on the blog. We hope you’ll send us yours. Others have paid $10,000 for access to our advice and coaching, you can get it free through our blog!
